Somalia: At least a hundred Ethiopian soldiers have been killed in two separate attacks on their vehicles in war-torn Somalia.
Armed men ambushed three military vehicles by remote controlled bombs in Hiiran district, killing all the 45 Ethiopian soldiers on board, witnesses told.

Elsewhere, two Ethiopian vehicles were destroyed by al-Shabaab fighters in a region 90 kilometers south of Mogadishu, Sheikh Mohmud Sheikh Ibrahim Suley, an al-Shabaab spokesman told Press TV. At least 55 soldiers were killed in the attack.

On the meantime, the Union of the Islamic Courts vowed on Wednesday to take action against those Somali businessmen who refuse to accept Somali shilling from people, Press TV report said.

On Monday, businessmen started demanding US dollars instead of shilling notes.

Somalia has been without a central government for more than 17 years and for the past 17 months, the Ethiopian-back interim government has been struggling to exert its control over the country.

Over the last three months, the value of Somali shilling has fallen dramatically from 17,000 shillings for $1 to 30,000 shillings for $1.
