Egyptian Railway Museum/Cairo Railway Museum

Amid the vast curiosity over pyramids and pharaohs, there is also another attraction in Cairo worthy of visit and this is the 70-year old Railway Museum. The Egyptian Railway Museum was founded in 1933 and chronicles the history and development of the ENR. It is located near the Ramses Station in Cairo. It houses some seven hundred exhibits, including full size trains and scale models, and includes the private trains of Muhammad Ali.

The Railway Museum, which is considered to be the first museum of its kind in the East, had its building completed on the 29th October, 1932. After the exhibits had been placed there, it was opened to the public on the 15th January, 1933.
