Accommodation: Zambia's range of accommodation has expanded rapidly in the last few years. Several new hotels and lodges have been built along the lake and in the national parks.

Food: The staple diet is maize porridge called nshima. Cuisine is not extensive and in most towns will be limited to steak, chicken and rice.
Entertainment: Mr Pete is has music at weekends; cover free if you eat. Also highly recommended is the Frog & Firkin, Kabelenga Rd, a British style pub that is very popular with Zambians. It has a good, lively mixed crowd; there is no cover charge.


Getting There:

Air: International airlines that fly to Lusaka include Air Zimbabwe, South African Airways, Air India, Lufthansa, Air Tanzania and Ethiopian Airways. Lusaka International airport is about 30 km from the city centre
Rail: Two international express trains are available per week between Kapiri-Mposhi and Dar es Salaam
Road: The country has eight neighbouring countries and so there is a huge number of cross points.
