Egypt discuss regional issues with Oman

Cairo: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak held talks with visiting Sultan Qaboos ben Said of Oman Thursday on the latest regional developments and bilateral ties, the official MENA news agency reported.

The talks of the two leaders focused on the Palestinian issue, the current situation in Lebanon and the Gulf region, Egyptian Presidential spokesman Suleiman Awwad was quoted as saying without elaboration.

Mubarak and Sultan Qaboos discussed ways to boost bilateral trade exchange in the meeting, which was held in the northern Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria, said Awwad.

The talks of the two leaders also dealt with conditions of Egyptian laborers in Oman and means to enhance cultural cooperation between the two sides, added the spokesman.

Sultan Qaboos arrived in Egypt on Thursday on a three-day official visit to Egypt.
