Sudan is divided into twenty-five states which in turn are subdivided into 133 districts.

- Janub Darfur (Southern Darfur),

- Kassala (Kassala),

- Sinnar (Sinnar), Warab (Warab).
Khartoum, established in 2003 is the capital of Sudan and Omdurman is the largest city.
